Carboxymethylcellulose & Sodium Hyaluronate
Carboxymethyl cellulose 1% w/v and Sodium Hyaluronate 0.1% w/v eye lubricant drops are a type of artificial tear solution used to relieve dry eyes and other symptoms associated with dry eye syndrome.
How it works?
Carboxymethyl cellulose is a lubricant that works by forming a protective film over the surface of the eye, helping to reduce dryness and irritation. It also helps to maintain the moisture of the eye surface.
Sodium Hyaluronate is a naturally occurring substance that acts as a lubricant and helps to keep the eyes hydrated. It’s a high molecular weight form of hyaluronic acid which is found in the human body and plays a role in maintaining the hydration of the eye.
These eye lubricant drops are used to relieve symptoms of dry eyes, such as burning, itching, and stinging. They can also be used as a lubricant for contact lenses. They are usually applied to the affected eye(s) as directed by a healthcare provider, usually one to four times daily depending on the severity of the symptoms.
Common side effects of this medication include mild stinging or burning when the drops are applied. However, serious side effects are rare. It’s important to talk to your healthcare provider if you experience any unusual symptoms or if the symptoms don’t improve after using the drops.
It’s important to follow the dosing instructions provided by your healthcare provider and to not stop using the medication early, even if symptoms improve.
Carboxymethyl cellulose 1% w/v and Sodium Hyaluronate 0.1% w/v eye lubricant drops should be stored at room temperature and protected from light. They should be discarded after the expiration date or if they become discolored or cloudy. It’s important to not use the drops if the solution appears discolored or cloudy, or if there are any particles visible.
It’s also important to note that this medication should not be used in individuals who are allergic to carboxymethyl cellulose, sodium hyaluronate or any other ingredient in the medication.
