Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose 5% w/v lubricating eye drops are a type of artificial tear solution used to relieve dry eyes and other symptoms associated with dry eye syndrome.
How it works?
Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose is a lubricant that works by forming a protective film over the surface of the eye, helping to reduce dryness and irritation. It also helps to maintain the moisture of the eye surface. These eye lubricant drops are used to relieve symptoms of dry eyes, such as burning, itching, and stinging. They can also be used as a lubricant for contact lenses. They are usually applied to the affected eye(s) as directed by a healthcare provider, usually one to four times daily depending on the severity of the symptoms.
Common side effects of this medication include mild stinging or burning when the drops are applied. However, serious side effects are rare. It’s important to talk to your healthcare provider if you experience any unusual symptoms or if the symptoms don’t improve after using the drops. It’s important to follow the dosing instructions provided by your healthcare provider and to not stop using the medication early, even if symptoms improve.
